Silence
Reined in by your silence,
My emotions never allowed to hold sway;
Impotent in the face of your defences,
That never seem to offer me a way.
How much longer shall I stay my hand?
I cannot interpret your behest;
My passion was never meant to operate,
Under the rules of a mute contest.
My battles are fought in words,
Imperfect weapons that may hasten my demise;
Yet still ones that may afford me a chance,
For all would be lost, in a duel with your eyes.
I am enamoured and obsessed with your silence,
Indeed, it is my paramount concern;
The more knowledge of you I gather,
The more I realise there's much left to learn.
Will you please lead me behind your silence?
Oh darling: let me live and die in there;
Gladly I would reject this ragged world of sound,
To live in silence with you my dear.
